It is really beginning to look like Spring around here! The weather has been in the 80's the last couple of days and people are beginning to come back to the beach. I've been so busy around here I have not even been over to the ocean! I have been trying to do a little, much needed, Spring cleaning around here. Also, I've been painting furniture for the shop and we have a few other projects going on. Over the last couple of months we have moved our 13 year old son, Tanner, and our almost 12 (B-day is Friday) year old daughter, Kinsley, up to the third floor of our house. I will share their new rooms in a later post. Tanner and Kinsley's old rooms are being converted into guest rooms which need to be painted and I am working on some furniture for them as well. I will show you them later too. I mentioned earlier that I've been spring cleaning which brings me to the last project we have going on. We are trying to get the garage cleaned out so my husband, William, can finally have a room in our home! He says it is long overdue! The garage will probably take the longest time to complete. I'll keep you posted on the progress.
Today I wanted to share some pictures of our kitchen. When we built this house, we built it as a vacation home with thoughts that we might make it our permanent residence. It is not huge by any means, but comfortable.
Below is our pantry, all of our can goods and other food with the exception of the kid's snacks for school is stored here.
We have all our baking stones and cutting boards stored in the basket below. I got the basket idea from The Polished Pebble. Kelley has a great blog and I love to check in with her to see what she has going on. Our everyday dishes are stored on the hanging rack and on the blue cart ( a beach shabby find).
Here is one more picture of our island. Our kitchen, living room and dining room our open, which is nice especially when we are all here.
Well, I guess I should go, but before I do, I wanted to mention that I have linked up with Sara over at A Beach Cottage for the "Good Life Wednesdays" blog party . Know I'm off to finish up some painting. Have a great day and I will talk to you all soon:)

Did you notice the beach cottage button? Now if I can remember how to do it..... Thanks Grace!
Looks great Debbi! It's definitely time for our walks to begin again. I went yesterday to the missile tower and back. It was a nice walk. Didn't find any glass but there was a lot of interesting beach wood on the beach. Call when you can walk. Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteDebbi your home is gorgeous!! I love your kitchen and lucky you for two dishwashers! I bet that does come in handy with everyone! Love the stools, those are so perfect!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing!! :)
Love your kitchen. The pendant lights are perfect, and while it's modern, it has the vintage coastal feel too.

ReplyDeleteYour home looks beautiful. I love the cabinets. And the floors. So pretty!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely kitchen you have!! That pantry is so pretty. Love the blue beaded board!! And of course I am loving all the white. So nice!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for visiting my blog and for taking the time to comment! Yes, the planks we used for the ceiling are pine. We didn't prime them because we wanted the knots to come through for added character, and because, well, to save time. :)
If you are concerned about knots showing through your planks, you will have to use BIN Shellac based primer. We have pine baseboards and trims around our windows, and we used regular old water based primer when we painted, and there are knots coming through. Apparently the only primer that will work on pine knots is Shellac. We did some research on Shellac, too, and you have to make sure when you buy it that you check the manufacture date because it is no good after a year. I hope this helps. Good luck on your ceiling!!
